The PHL consists of five divisions based on skill and knowledge. Each player is ranked on the scale below.
Please note: Because a player’s definition of their own individual skill assessment will vary, each player will be reassessed by PHL General Managers. The PHL reserves the right to move players within divisions who may have ranked themselves incorrectly. This helps promote fair play and allows us to create even strength teams.

Titanium Division (Previous Division: Elite A or B)
This division is for the player who is highly competitive in a positive manner and enjoys playing the game at a higher level of intensity.

Individual Ranking A or B
- Experience in – Youth / Junior / Adult / University and Travel hockey
- Any age group above 18
- Quality speed skater
- very good puck handling skills
- very good skating abilities (forward and backward crossovers, quick stopping, etc)
- Any age group
- Competitive level
- Ability & knowledge of the game
- Be able to play forward & defense position
- Ability to retain an acceptable speed level within the division
Platinum Division (Previous Division: Elite C or Pro A)
This division is for the player who has very competitive skills that would enjoy playing the game for fun but with a good level of intensity

Individual Ranking A or B
- speed skater
- backwards skater
- Any age group above 18
- stops and turn in either direction
- front and backwards crossovers
- Shinny experience
- 10 years experience plus
- Ability & knowledge of the game
- Be able to play forward & defense position
- Ability to retain an acceptable speed level within the division
Gold Division (Previous Division: Pro B or C)
This division is for the player with skill and speed who plays for fun but is still competitive.

- decent skater
- average backwards skater
- Any age group above 18
- stops and turn in either direction
- average front and backwards crossovers
- Shinny experience
- 7 to 10 years experience
- average competitor
- Ability & knowledge of the game
- Ability to retain an acceptable speed level within the division
Silver Division (Previous Division: Intermediate A or B)
This division is for the player who would like to advance their skills and have fun at the next competitive level.

- average skater
- average competitor
- Any age group above 18
- Played limited shinny hockey
- falls the odd time
- decent stopping and turning capabilities
- average backwards skater
- At least 4 to 7 years experience
- Ability to retain an acceptable speed level within the division
Bronze Division (Previous Division: Intermediate C or Rookie A,B,C)
This division was created for the players who would like to play in a more relaxed, fun environment . This division also offers the perfect mix of entry level players combined with slightly higher skilled players wanting to advance their level of play.

- Limited backwards skating
- Limited ability to do crossovers
- Limited stopping capabilities
- Never played ice hockey before
- Ball hockey experience
- Minimal Ice Skating Experience
- Falls down more than occasionally
- Any age group above 18
- Winning not a constant priority
The PHL promotes a fun and enjoyable environment for all players and as such all our divisions are no-hitting.
